Where is Vök Baths located?
Vök Baths is located 500 meters from Route 1 just northwest of Egilsstaðir and only a 5 minute drive from downtown Egilsstaðir.
What is the best way to get to Vök Baths?

Is EV charging available at Vök Baths?
Yes, we have 8 charging stations. You need to bring your own cable and have the ON app to use them.
Do I need to book my ticket in advance?
There is an only a limited amount of tickets available for each entrance time at Vök Baths. Therefore, we highly advise you to book your tickets online in advance as we cannot guarantee availability on the spot. From 1st of June to 31st of August we ask all guests to book in advance as we don’t accept walk-ins during that time
Do I need to reserve a table at the restaurant?
Yes, we recommend booking a table through our website.
What happens if I can’t make it at the time I have booked?
It is not a problem to change the date or timing on your booking. Please contact us via e-mail at hello@vokbaths.is with a new date or time and your booking number.
A Personal assistant
Guests requiring help in the changing rooms are given a complimentary admission to cover the entry fee of an assistant.
This also applies to children with home-care allowance ID that have a complimentary admission themselfs.

What is the minimum age to go alone to Vök Baths?
An individual must be at least 16 years old to be allowed to enter alone. Children under the age of 16, must be accompanied by their parents.
How long can I stay in the pools?
You can stay as long as you want, within opening hours. Everyone has to leave the building before closing time. Opening hours vary, here you can find information about opening hours.
Are there any chemicals in the water?
Vök Baths is a clean natural hot spring with no chlorine or other chemicals added to the pools. The purity of the water is guaranteed through continuous water flow. Clean natural pools come with algae, and the algae formation peaks in spring and summer when the sun is highest in the sky. However, a lot of research has indicated positive effects of algae, for example in nourishing and softening the skin. Nevertheless, algae can cause the surfaces to become slippery and so the pools are regularly emptied and the algae removed as a safety precaution.
What is the pool's temperature and how many pools do you have?
The temperature of the pools range from 5° – 41°C (41° – 105,8°F). We have three pools, one main pool and our two Vakir (two floating pools).
When is the last slot to go in the pools?
The last slot to go in is at 45 minutes before closing time.
Please note that all guests are asked to leave the pools 15 minutes before closing time.
Are there any age restrictions?
Everyone is welcome to Vök Baths. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
What happens if I lose my bracelet?
Guests are responsible for the bracelets they receive. If a bracelet is lost, the guest must pay for the bracelet, which is ISK 5.000.
Is it possible to borrow a wheelchair?
Yes, you can also use the wheelchair to go in the pools.
How frequently does the water in the pools change?
There is a continuous flow in our pools, the water is constantly renewing itself.
Do I need to shower before going in the pools?
Yes, we kindly ask all guests to shower before entering the pools. By every shower there is shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.
Can I bring my own drinks?
No, it is not allowed to bring your own drinks. We have a wide selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks at our pool bar. Guests are more than welcomed to bring water bottles to the pools.
Is it safe for pregnant women to go in the pools?
Our pools range from 37-42°C, therefore we ask women who are expecting to evaluate their own physical condition before they go in the pools. We also recommend drinking plenty of water during your stay.
Are toys for children allowed?
No. However, children are more than welcome. It is not allowed to bring toys, only inflatable armbands and inflatable floaties for infants.
When is the most quiet time to visit Vök Baths?
If you are looking to visit Vök Baths during the most quiet time when there is least amount of visitors, we would recommend you visit during the early hours from opening or just before closing time.
What happens if I forget my swimsuit or other belongings after my visit?
Please contact us via hello@vokbaths.is with a description of what you forgot.
Lost and found items are stored as follows:
Towels, swimsuits and other clothes

Cameras, phones, backpacks, purses and other items of clear value

Can I rent a towel, swimsuit or a warm hat?
Yes, you can rent those items when you make your booking or at our reception.
Can I bring a drone?
No, it is not allowed to use a drone during opening hours. If you want further information about drone usage, please contact hello@vokbaths.is
Can I bring my phone/camera into the pools?
Yes, you are allowed to use your phone/camera during your stay. Photographing is strictly forbidden in the changing rooms. We ask all guests to respect other guests when you photograph. No warranty is taken for damaged devices, lost phones or cameras.
Should I wear a swimming cap/warm hat?
Are private lockers available?
At Vök Bath you can find closed off lockers in both the male and female locker rooms. These lockers can be used for changing your clothes in a more private setting. You will also find private showers where you can shower behind closed doors before and after your stay in the baths. There are no private lockers available at this time.
Do you have a swimsuit dryer?
No, we don’t have a swimsuit dryer due to noise pollution. At the reception you can get a biodegradeble bag for your swimsuit at a small cost.
How deep are the pools?
The pools vary in depth and are 1.2 meters where they are the deepest.
Safety rules
Before entering the pools, we kindly ask you to read our safety rules
1. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone
2. All guests must wash thoroughly with soap and without swimsuit before entering the pool
3. Diving is not allowed
4. Guests are allowed to bathe in lake Urriðavatn at their own responsibility
5. Pool temperatures are 38° – 41°C (100,4° – 105,8°F)
6. Be careful since pools, walkways and steps can be slippery. Be especially cautious during winter time
7. Remember to drink water or other beverages during your bath to stay hydrated
